What is the Best Way to Store Chocolate?

We suggest eating your chocolate right away and share it with someone you love.  But if you want to keep it a little while longer, we understand that too.  We suggest storing it in a cool, dark, dry place, such as a kitchen cabinet (or a tall dresser drawer if you are trying to hide it from someone).

DO NOT REFRIGERATE OR FREEZE CHOCOLATE!  We know many people do this, and actually prefer to eat frozen chocolate.  You do you.  But we do not recommend this.  The chocolate will "bloom" or "come out of temper" and it will not retain the ideal mouth feel, taste, or texture.  That's when you will see the white streaks on your chocolate.  That is the cream separating from the chocolate.  Not bad, not mold, just not ideal.

What is the shelf life of your products?

We do not use preservatives, so our product's shelf life is anywhere between 6 weeks and 3 months.  Check the back of the product for the "Best By" Date.

What is a Best By Date?

That is the date the product is BEST to consume BY.  This is NOT an expiration date.  Expiration dates are for products like milk that will sour and go bad after a certain date.  Our products lose their freshness and ideal texture after the best by date, but will not make you sick if you consume them slightly past the best by date.  Stores who carry our products should not sell you anything if it is past the Best By date.

Do you ship Internationally?

Yes we can!  Call us at the Factory and we'll take your order over the phone.  We use FedEx exclusively, so we have to check if 1) FedEx ships to that location (most likely) and 2) will that country allow us to ship chocolate to them (shockingly, some do not!).  The cost to ship a small to medium box internationally ranges from $120-$400.

Why are your products so expensive?

We use quality ingredients to make a high end premium gift chocolate.  We use Grandma's recipes and home fashioned production.  We still hand make many things.  We take pride in our products and we think they are worth every penny.  Our prices are comparable to many other brands, including lesser quality, more mass produced brands.

Why is shipping so expensive?

We use FedEx exclusively.  We can ship anything Ground/Home (which can take 1-7 days to deliver) or 2Day Express.  They have made it so 3Day Express is just as expensive as 2Day.  Their prices are in line with their competitors.  We are shipping chocolate - not only a perishable item, but a product that melts in temperatures above 80 degrees.  We create our own foam insulated boxes and use gel ice packs to ensure that our products arrive to their destination perfectly.  We do our best to consider the weather - not just where it is going, but where it will stop along the way (FedEx hubs in Central California and Tennessee).  We consider the amount of chocolate, how hot it is in Monterey, Oakland, Tennessee, AND the destination, and if it will sit on someone's porch once it is delivered.  We hope you can appreciate that our efforts to pack your product and using FedEx to ship your product is worth the cost of shipping.  Shipping is not free.  If you are getting "Free Shipping" on another site, you are paying for it another way - membership fee, more expensive product, etc.
